In the quiet of night, a viewing pavilion stands illuminated, its ironwork and wood glowing against the dark. The structure feels both ornate and restrained — a small architectural stage that invites pause and reflection. The absence of people turns it into a study of form and balance.
Presented in black and white, the image isolates light and geometry. Each line becomes sharper, each shadow more deliberate. What might be an ordinary public space by day transforms after dark into something sculptural, defined entirely by contrast and stillness.

The Process
The image is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 310gsm, an archival cotton paper renowned for its exceptional tonal depth and natural surface. This paper is prized for both colour and black and white work, offering rich blacks, refined highlights, and beautifully controlled saturation. Each image is individually prepared and soft-proofed for this paper to ensure accuracy between screen and print.
The print is presented with an 8 cm natural white museum-grade passepartout, allowing the image to breathe and providing a sense of calm spatial separation from the frame. It is finished in a slim 20 mm black oak frame, chosen for its understated elegance and contemporary character. Museum glass completes the piece, offering high clarity and UV protection while minimising reflections.
